Kingsport City Schools Superintendent Named 2022 First Tennessee District Superintendent of the Year

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents (TOSS) has announced Kingsport City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeff Moorhouse has been named the 2022 First Tennessee District Superintendent of the Year. With his recognition as the top district First Tennessee Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Moorhouse is also now a finalist for the 2022 Tennessee Superintendent of the Year, which will be announced later this year.

George Washington Elementary School Receives 2021 Tennessee STEM School Designation

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) and the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network (TSIN) has announced Kingsport City Schools George Washington Elementary School has received the Tennessee STEM School Designation for 2021. This honor recognizes schools for preparing students for postsecondary and future career success by committing to promote STEM and/or STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) learning for their students.

Dobyns-Bennett Student Advances to National Level of Presidential Scholarship Program

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Dobyns-Bennett High School senior Kendrick Tate has been named one of 4,500 candidates in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, competing with top high school students nominated across the country. Kendrick is the son of Dr. Brian and Tonya Tate.

Dobyns-Bennett Seniors Selected for ETSU Roan Scholars Program

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Roan Scholars Leadership Program at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) has selected eight high school seniors to join the Roan Class of 2024, including two Dobyns-Bennett High School seniors Gavin Bentley and Sally Chikomb.
